anything but dog beach

The wind was a little too much for the camera this morning, and we've had some rain the past few days. For something different, I went through and picked out some favorite early morning shots from earlier this week. Not one of them has a dog in it.

We've seen some super low tides lately. These two surfers had a bit of a walk.

Pelicans as the sun slowly made its way up above the horizon.

A couple more pelicans.

The moon barely visible at low tide.

playing with perspective

Played a bit with the camera this time and held it down while playing with the kids and a toy Riptide found on the beach. Here's the result. Sorry for the odd crops, but I'm sure I'll get better with practice. :)

Kick the ball!

Whoa! Can't you get it any closer to our faces?

foster's "smile"

Foster will give you a little "smile" when he greets you. He wags his tail and puts his head down as he's approaching, but bares his teeth. It's almost passive aggressive (and amusing).

a dog, a shell and a crazy person

Last day out with the Sony today. A bunch of different shots that caught my interest...

I see these German Short Hair Pointers often (they're human is the guy that saved that pelican a little more than a year go). They have a new puppy, and I'm not sure if this is it or one of the other ones, but they were all having way a blast with the toys this morning.

Check out the eroded shell. (Someone is jonesing for a macro lens. :)

This crazy guy decided a dip at about 7 AM in late January was a good idea. Or as another fellow beachgoer said, "Someone is high."

random shots with the sony dslr

I took the Sony with me again today, so I decided not to use any effects (other than simple tweaks for exposure). Just some random shots of people & dogs playing in and around the high surf this morning.

See how far that tide was coming in?

Daphne is an adorable rescued Pit Bull. Notice her right ear is missing. I think her owner was offended when I asked, but I was curious. Poor little thing. Very friendly.

A Boxer enjoys a little rest time with Mama, but definitely kept a close eye on me and Riptide.

About This Blog

San Diego's Dog Beach (in Ocean Beach) is the original leash-free dog beach. It's a stretch of sand and ocean that is one big 24-hour playground for canines and humans. This unique place is home to many, and a special trip for others. There is always a story to tell. I'm lucky enough to visit Dog Beach nearly every day, and this blog is my way of sharing a wonderful place with anyone who loves dogs, the beach, or both.

I'm a PR gun for hire that spends much of my day tied to the computer or iPhone. After moving to San Diego from the Midwest 13 years ago, I never looked back. I found my home. My home office is only a mile away from the Pacific Ocean, which allows me to enjoy mornings at San Diego's most excellent leash-free beach with my dogs. Social and exercise time for all of us.
