coming and going

The kids (TempTide) haven't been featured lately, so thought it was time. :) Not sure which way they are cuter:

Coming...

or going.

wednesday morning light

We left for the beach about 15-30 minutes later than usual this AM, and boy did we luck out with the sun. It was clearer than it has been, even a little earlier, but the sun was bright and warm when we arrived.

Check out those reflections!

prance and pose

Not sure what kind of pup this is - some sort of Spaniel, I'm sure - but he seemed to have fun prancing and pose for me simultaneously.

funny face

Bulldogs have the best faces, even when they are at rest. But a trotting Bulldog is just delicious.

a couple of games of "who's hole is it anyway"

Challenges over who gets to own a hole after it has been dug happen occasionally, but I was lucky enough to catch two recently.

Riptide digs the hole. Oliver, the Pug, challenges.

I'm thinking Oliver prevails (at the very least, he's pulling quite the Matrix impression.)

Maggie finds this Dachshund's hole one of interest.

Said Dachshund chases Maggie away for a bit.

I think he means business.

Moral of the story: Frenchies suck at this game.

sarah - in black and white

Sarah loves her ball. Almost as much as Riptide. Caught a few snaps of her this weekend enjoying her ball both in - and out - of water.

what's better on a friday? guinness or a black 'n tan?

How about both? Guinness, the Rottweiler that lives across the street from us, takes a run in the surf with our little butter ball, Tempest. She'd be the black 'n tan. :)

fun & frolic, once again

These guys were having a little tussle deciding who got to carry the miniature tire around. I'm thinking the one with the "tuxedo" is the clear winner.

sunday surprise

With company in town, beach trips this week were hurried or nonexistent. Now, we're back in the swing of things...

We haven't seen Odessa in about 3 years! We ran in to her and her lady, Nadra, this morning. What a nice surprise.

Surf & turf: Some pups enjoy the surf, as TempTide check out their turf.

Lucy gets some air while playing with her human.

I just liked this guy's attitude.

Good thing we're heading out. Look at how busy it is?!

kylie, the kc girl, visits dog beach

Sorry for the light posting this week, but I'm hosting my girl Kylie (her mom is one of my oldest, closest and dearest friends) for the week. She's 13 and visiting from Kansas City. She'll be taking surf lessons today, and we did all kinds of shopping and driving with the top down yesterday.

Kylie snapped a few shots at the beach yesterday. And here we go!

This guy was Kylie's favorite. She especially loved how he has one blue eye, and one brown.

Kylie's favorite is "greeted" by TempTide.

So check this out! Yes, that's a miniature horse on the beach. He was visiting to raise awareness of the shelter that saves him and raise money for the cause. The dogs did much better than I thought they would.

TempTide checks the horse out while Kylie and I giggle at his little sneakers.

Kylie says Riptide's shadow looks like Batman [I agree].

And here is Kylie with her new friend, Sissy.

boxer and friend

Sometimes I just watch dogs interact. I find myself fascinated with their communication system. It was fun watching this Boxer and friend running, wrestling and playing. Obviously "friend" is a bit of a nipper, but the Boxer didn't mind one bit. Just a day at the beach.

About This Blog

San Diego's Dog Beach (in Ocean Beach) is the original leash-free dog beach. It's a stretch of sand and ocean that is one big 24-hour playground for canines and humans. This unique place is home to many, and a special trip for others. There is always a story to tell. I'm lucky enough to visit Dog Beach nearly every day, and this blog is my way of sharing a wonderful place with anyone who loves dogs, the beach, or both.

I'm a PR gun for hire that spends much of my day tied to the computer or iPhone. After moving to San Diego from the Midwest 14 years ago, I never looked back. I found my home. My home office is only a mile away from the Pacific Ocean, which allows me to enjoy mornings at San Diego's most excellent leash-free beach with my dogs. Social and exercise time for all of us.
